Drayton Manor is closing its Pandemonium ride to make way for Looping Group investment.

Drayton Manor in Staffordshire, UK is retiring its gravity-defying Pandemonium ride as part of new owners Looping Group’s investment and expansion plans.

Pandemonium opened at Drayton Manor back in 2004. One of the park’s most thrilling attractions, it features swinging gondolas that send passengers soaring through the sky.

“But sadly, all good things must come to an end,” Drayton Manor wrote in a blog post.

Drayton Manor was sold as part of a pre-pack administration to Looping Group back in August 2020. It operates under the company name of Drayton Manor Resort Ltd.

From October 28 to October 31, Drayton Manor is inviting visitors to experience the ride’s rip-roaring pendulum swing before it closes to make way for new developments. The closure will allow Looping Group to continue to expand the park’s offerings.

Looping Group investment plans

Riders will enjoy their final swing during the BRIT’tastic Fireworks Extravaganza, which takes place on October 29 and October 30. There will be awe-inspiring fireworks and laser displays, set to a fun soundtrack that celebrates British music.

“We know how much our brave riders have loved boarding Pandemonium since we first opened it 17 years ago, so we’re calling all thrill seekers to enjoy one last chance to ride this weekend,” said a spokesperson from Drayton Manor.

“While it’s the end of an era for Pandemonium, we have big plans in the pipeline to expand our offering and make the park as exciting as possible for our guests, and we can’t wait to reveal the new developments for 2022.”

Drayton Manor opened a new maritime-themed area in July this year called Adventure Cove, which was the first investment phase from Looping Group.

“We’ve been working closely with our local contractors and are hugely grateful to them and the support of Looping Group for this new development,” said William Bryan, managing director at Drayton Manor.
