Convious removes software stress from Taunus Therme Spa

More timeslots and less admin work is helping the venue to remain efficient

Convious, a leading eCommerce platform for the leisure industry, has transformed the business and online ticketing operations of a top European wellness provider.

Taunus Therme Spa, found in the Bad Homburg region, is a wellness destination that welcomes thousands of guests a year with its 1,400 square metre indoor and outdoor thermal pools. Visitors are encouraged to relax and de-stress in four zones featuring eleven saunas, whirlpools and open sunbathing areas.

The spa’s legacy system was not agile enough to deal with online booking processes, a significant issue whilst trying to stay in business during the pandemic. Therme decided to upgrade to a modern platform which provides guests with more flexible booking options, as well as giving the firm more control over its visitor flow.

Responsive to change

Convious partnered with the leisure company to reduce workload for staff and introduce a more efficient online booking process for customers, providing a comprehensive visitor management solution that helped digitise the booking, registration and reception process.

Using Convious’ integrated software, Taunus Therme is now responsive to varying visitor numbers, ensuring they never surpass capacity. The all-day ticketing system has been replaced by Convious’ time-slot system which allows for increased sales opportunities. Guests can now specify their preferred arrival time, assisting the spa to optimise capacity throughout the day, rather than appearing fully booked. This has helped with the issue of guests arriving who hadn’t pre-booked, a problem the previous system couldn’t solve.

The spa has now transitioned to a cashless operation, reducing workloads and ensuring compliance with the ever-changing COVID-19 guidelines.

Taunus Therme Spa managing director Sonja Kortz says: “As you can imagine the first lockdown of the pandemic hit us hard as a business. Overnight we lost 100% of our guest volume, without warning. When it came to reopening, we needed to put new safety measures in place without scaring off the few guests who were allowed back in.”

Convenience for all

The obvious solution, Kortz says, was to digitise the entire booking process as much as possible.

“[We wanted] to offer our guests a convenient way to book their visit online, and manage re-bookings if necessary due to the ongoing uncertainty.”

“Very often, guests were showing up unexpectedly, and we would have to keep them waiting, as we couldn’t let anyone else in, which led to long wait times. That’s when we decided to ask Convious for a complete solution that would allow us to eliminate in-person payment altogether. We have been really impressed with the results ever since”.

Convious managing director Andy Povey, adds:

“The last thing guests want at wellness destinations is to feel stressed by the experience! We’ve been able to help the spa enhance its visitor journey by giving them the tools to simplify sales, manage visitor capacity and provide opportunities for post-visit feedback to encourage repeat visitation.  By streamlining how guests book online, the spa can bring calm to the process before, during and after, bringing the online experience in line with the physical.”

Blooloop, in association with Convious, recently launched the blooloop 50 Theme Park Influencer List 2022, which recognises the work of the industry’s most influential people from the past year.
