Guests will fly next to the famous Mountain range and over local attractions

Extreme Engineering, a leading adventure attractions company, has announced that the next location it will install its award-winning Cloud Coaster product is in Tennessee, US.

The firm’s signature suspended coaster product will be installed at Wilderness at the Smokies, ready to open next year.

Carefully designed to interact with other attractions such as a themed mini golf course, the Cloud Coaster takes riders on a fast-paced aerial tour of the Forest Family Adventure Park. The ride will also be suspended above other activities including laser tag and a ropes course.

The new project will be Extreme Engineering’s eighth installation and the first in Tennessee.  The Cloud Coaster will also be the company’s first family coaster to take guests through several rooms in an adventure park setting.

An elevated platform will propel riders from a preliminary height of 18 feet to a maximum track height of approximately 25 feet. The attraction’s layout of will allow staff to conduct moderate to quick cycle times, keeping queueing times as low as possible.

A company representative says: “We are incredibly proud of the Cloud Coaster’s design. Our safety and engineering features allow this suspended coaster to be built indoors around the vertical structures of the park’s attractions. We are excited to partner with Wilderness at the Smokies and bring this world-class attraction to their exciting adventure park in 2023.”

A ride in the wilderness

As the Smoky Mountain region’s biggest water park resort, Wilderness at the Smokies is located within the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, in Sevierville. The nearby national park is the most popular in the US, attracting more than 11 million visitors a year.

Its operator, Wilderness Resorts and Waterparks, owns other sites including Soaky Mountain Waterpark, Glacier Canyon Lodge and Wilderness on the Lake.

With its see-through roof, the indoor waterpark operates year-round and is accompanied by two further outdoor waterparks next to the resort, including the Forest Family Adventure Park where the Cloud Coaster be installed. Having won three industry awards, Extreme Engineering’s family coaster will be predominantly suspended in the adventure facility’s ceiling, reducing the visible infrastructure required for operation.

The ride will accommodate children as small as 40 inches in height with a maximum weight limit of 250 pounds per adult when it opens at Wilderness at the Smokies next year.

Extreme Engineering’s enhanced suspended coaster, Cloud Coaster Storm, offers twice the speed, thrills and capacity of the standard product, ensuring no rider has to ride alone.
