World of Barbie, an immersive attraction inspired by Barbie’s luxurious lifestyle, opened today (22 July 2022) at Square One in Mississauga, Canada.
The 30,000-square-foot Barbie-themed neighbourhood was created by live entertainment company Kilburn Live and children’s entertainment company Mattel.
“World of Barbie has come together in a truly spectacular fashion, with vivid colours, precise design details, and the sheer scope of immersive environments,” says Mark Manuel, CEO of Kilburn Live.
“This world premiere is a major achievement in terms of accurately recreating a world that is familiar to so many fans of Barbie.”

Guests can explore detailed sets including ‘Barbie Dreamhouse‘ and ‘Barbie Laboratory’. The Dreamhouse features “exquisitely designed rooms”, according to a release. The lab boasts a Barbie-style periodic table.
Installations also include an interior design studio and music production studio, as well as a space shuttle, runway and TV centre. Guests can pose inside iconic Barbie boxes within the runway set.
At the TV centre, visitors can interview guests and broadcast breaking news on The Barbie Show. Elsewhere, they can take the driver’s seat in Barbie’s full-size camper van.
World of Barbie also includes a museum showcasing the evolution of Barbie through dolls and Dreamhouses from different decades.

The themed café is serving sweet treats and afternoon tea, and a ‘Barbie Dreambuilder’ experience allows guests to create their own customised Barbie set.
“World of Barbie is an exciting immersion into the lifestyle of Barbie, where guests can step into her world, and discover and revel in installations that are meticulously curated to cultivate dreams,” says Julie Freeland, senior director of location-based entertainment at Mattel.
“Fans of all ages can imagine endless possibilities for themselves, while walking in her footsteps as a scientist, designer, news anchor, astronaut and much more.”
Following its debut in Mississauga, World of Barbie will tour several cities across North America, including New York, Chicago, and Dallas.
