Wondrous Journeys celebrates 100 years of Walt Disney Animation Studios.

Disneyland has revealed more about the new ‘Wondrous Journeys’ nighttime spectacular debuting on 27 January as part of the Walt Disney Company’s 100th anniversary.

Dubbed ‘Disney 100 Years of Wonder’, the anniversary celebrations include various special attractions and entertainment across the resort all year.

Created by Disney Live Entertainment, Wondrous Journeys celebrates 100 years of Walt Disney Animation Studios. It includes nods to every film released by the studio over the past century.

There will be music and characters from films such as Encanto, Hercules, The Princess and the Frog, Peter Pan, Frozen, Treasure Planet, Big Hero 6, and Moana.

The show also features an original new song, ‘It’s Wondrous’. Visitors will be surrounded by state-of-the-art projection effects and special lighting effects.

Guests will see blank pieces of paper, pencil sketches and splashes of colour as Main Street, U.S.A., Sleeping Beauty Castle, It’s a Small World and the Rivers of America become an artist’s canvas.

MagicBand+, which recently launched at Disneyland, will interact with the show. On select nights, Wondrous Journeys will feature fireworks.

Meanwhile, Disneyland is reopening its reimagined Mickey’s Toontown land on 8 March. The Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway attraction is launching earlier on 27 January to coincide with the anniversary celebrations.

Also at Disneyland, Tarzan’s Treehouse is being transformed into the Adventureland Treehouse, inspired by 1960 film Swiss Family Robinson.

According to Disney, the treehouse will be home to “wonderous new environments created amongst the branches of a giant tree on the shores of the Jungle River”.
