Disneyland Resort has announced a reopening date for Mickey’s Toontown, which is being reimagined to offer new experiences and the Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway attraction.

Mickey’s Toontown will reopen on 8 March 2023. Located inside the El CapiTOON Theater, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is launching earlier on 27 January as part of the ‘Disney 100 Years of Wonder’ celebrations.

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Disney’s first ride-through attraction featuring Mickey and Minnie Mouse, made its debut at Walt Disney World in March 2020.

New attractions at Mickey’s Toontown include ‘CenTOONial Park’, a natural space anchored by two interactive play experiences – a sensory fountain with water tables and a dreaming tree where children can crawl and explore.

‘Goofy’s How-To-Play Yard’ is described as a whimsical sound garden where children explore new ways to make noises. It will also include Goofy’s House, home to an interactive candy-making contraption.

‘Donald’s Duck Pond’ will boast larger-than-life spinning water lilies and balance beams, as well as ‘Donald’s Boat’, where kids can interact with Huey, Dewey, Louie and Webby.

‘Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin’ is returning to Mickey’s Toontown. Additionally, Gadget’s Go Coaster will become ‘Chip ‘n’ Dale’s GADGETcoaster’.

‘Mickey’s House’ and ‘Minnie’s House’ are also coming back, with guests enjoying a self-guided tour of the popular characters’ residences.

The updated land will offer two new F&B outlets. At ‘Café Daisy’, Daisy Duck will serve diner classics, while the ‘Toontown Famers Market’ at ‘Good Boy! Grocers’ is a friendly roadside stand selling drinks and treats.

“The newly reimagined Mickey’s Toontown will be a welcoming place where families and younger guests can connect and play together in fun new ways,” said Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney parks, experiences and products, at IAAPA Expo 2021.

Also at Disneyland, Tarzan’s Treehouse is being transformed into the Adventureland Treehouse, inspired by 1960 film Swiss Family Robinson.
