Mickey’s Toontown, set to close on March 9, 2022, will be transformed to offer new experiences, and more play and interactivity.

Disneyland Resort has announced the closing date for Mickey’s Toontown ahead of an ‘ambitious reimagining’ of the land, which reopens in early 2023 with the new ride, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway.

Mickey’s Toontown, set to close on March 9, 2022, will be transformed to offer new experiences, and more play and interactivity. It will still feature attractions such as Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin, Mickey’s House and Minnie’s House.

Gadget’s Go Coaster, Goofy’s House and Donald’s Boat will be reimagined. Among the land’s new additions will be CenTOONial Park, a natural space anchored by two interactive play experiences.

“The newly reimagined Mickey’s Toontown will be a welcoming place where families and younger guests can connect and play together in fun new ways,” said Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney parks, experiences and products, at IAAPA Expo 2021.

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Disney’s first ride-through attraction featuring Mickey and Minnie Mouse, debuted at Walt Disney World in Florida in March 2020.

Disney has also shared a first look at the sweet shop created for the Disney Wish, which will immerse guests in themed environments and experiences from the worlds of Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars.

Inspired by Pixar’s Inside Out, Joyful Sweets is designed to look like the Headquarters, the control centre inside Riley Andersen’s mind. The sweet shop will sell decadent deserts including edible Memory Orbs

Additional offerings include cupcakes inspired by Riley’s emotions, including a red velvet cupcake for Anger and a sweet lemon cupcake for Joy.
