The Shipping Monster, a provider of logistics and transportation to touring exhibitions, attractions and the entertainment industry, has completed a historical delivery – transporting eight sections of the Berlin Wall.
The 8-foot-high structures had been on display at a Berlin Wall exhibition in Los Angeles. The Shipping Monster was tasked with removing the wall from this venue, before securely transporting them to a nearby Storage Monster location.
The Berlin Wall sections each weighed in at 3.5 tons, and a speciality crane was needed to move each piece onto flatbed trucks ready for their journey. The safety and security of moving this historical artefact were paramount, and the company will continue to care for the Wall at their sister company’s storage facility until it travels on to its next venue.
Robert Aspinall, founder and CEO of The Shipping Monster, says: “We were incredibly proud to be trusted to move and store these sections of the Berlin Wall because of the immense historical impact, and our belief that exhibitry of this nature needs to be shared with the world. It was a challenging operation that the team was excited to manage, and we are pleased to be a part of its future.”
The Shipping Monster recently sponsored the Museums/Musées Canada Summit which took place from 25 – 28 March 2023 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. It is a founding sponsor of the event, which is a grassroots foundation supporting those who work in museums, galleries, science centres, and related cultural institutions across Canada.
Sunshine Aspinall, partner and CMO of The Shipping Monster led a Breakfast Roundtable for Travelling Exhibitions and a panel named, ‘There Are No Stupid Questions’ at the summit.
The company also recently exhibited at the IAAPA EMEA Trade Summit in Riyadh, where Robert Aspinall led a panel focussing on supply chain disruption and sustainability entitled ‘Finding the Magic That Lies Between Creative Vision and Budget’.
