Europa-Park in Germany has installed the final piece of track, part of the inverted top hat, for its 14th coaster in the new Croatia-themed area.
The final element was put in place 32.5 metres above the station building 15 weeks after the first piece of track was installed. Since then, 15 specialists have pieced together 142 track elements, and nearly 500 tonnes of supports.
Described in a press release as “one of the most modern and spectacular attractions in Europe”, the new roller coaster is manufactured by Mack Rides.
Park’s 14th coaster to open next year
“Today marks another milestone in our company history,” said Michael Mack, Europa-Park’s managing partner.
The coaster “with a Croatian connection and an exciting storytelling”, Mack said, “is a true matter of the heart for us and will surely become one of the best rides in Europe“.
In the coming months, Europa-Park will work on the theming and technology installation. The ride has nearly 300 stators, which will catapult the trains at speeds of 90 km/h.
Europa-Park is releasing a series of videos on its VeeJoy streaming service that unveil the coaster’s construction. The new attraction is scheduled to open in 2024.
Elsewhere, Spain’s Parque Warner Madrid has opened a new Intamin multi-launch coaster, a Batman-themed ride featuring a 45-metre top hat and Batmobile-style coaster trains.
Parc Astérix in France has also opened a new Intamin multi-launch coaster called Toutatis as part of its new €36 million land, ‘Festival Toutatis’.
Europa-Park was founded in 1975 by Roland Mack and his father Franz. The family-owned park, and its Rulantica water park, are home to more than 100 attractions.
