Intamin, a creator of record-breaking amusement rides, is celebrating the launch of “Swingi”, the new Gyro Swing at Linnanmäki in Finland.
The ride opened on 30 April 2024, and joins the Intamin LSM Multi-Launch Coaster, “Taiga“, which opened in 2019.
The park selected Intamin’s Gyro Swing as an exciting and memorable attraction to suit a compact location, which previously housed a round ride. In addition, Swingi is fully customised to fit a unique musical theme.
A spokesperson from the firm says: “We extend many thanks to our long-standing partners, Linnanmäki, for once again having placed their trust in us and to the whole team for their great collaboration on this beautiful project.”
Wide rider appeal
The Gyro Swing features a 25-meter-long arm and a rotating gondola that can seat 40 guests. This swings back and forth, reaching a height of 42 metres at a 120 degree angle. As it swings, its riders will experience complete weightlessness when they reach the top. The pleasant rotation provides a dynamic ride feel and enhances each swing.
Although it has the aesthetic of a thrill ride, Intamin’s Gyro Swing appeals to a wide range of visitors and is regarded as one of the world’s most popular round rides.
Swingi boasts the most powerful direct drive system on the market which provides a smooth and dynamic ride experience. Intamin’s advanced technology means that the direct-drive power unit emits a very low level of noise.
In addition, the drive system can recover up to 40% of the power required to operate the ride. This results in energy savings and lower running expenses, making for a more sustainable ride investment.
Riders sit in suspended seating, secured by Intamin’s comfortable and service-proven restraint system without upper-body constraints to provide a feeling of freedom.
Intamin recently revealed that its launched flume ride, Catapult Falls, has opened at SeaWorld San Antonio in Texas, US. Catapult Falls is the world’s first launched flume ride and features the steepest-ever flume drop at 53 degrees.
