Intamin launched flume ride Catapult Falls opens

Intamin, a creator of record-breaking amusement rides, has revealed that its launched flume ride, Catapult Falls, has opened at SeaWorld San Antonio in Texas, US.

Catapult Falls is the first launched flume ride on the planet, and boasts the steepest ever flume drop at 53 degrees.

World’s steepest flume drop

The cutting-edge flume ride uses Intamin’s latest technology for a smooth and thrilling ride. This attraction includes the first flume launch in history, which surprises riders as it launches into the first of two airtime hills at a speed of 9 meters per second (30 feet per second). The splashdown that follows is ideal for cooling off in the Texas heat.

However, the fun doesn’t stop there. Riders will enjoy a relaxing boat trip section that will take them to North America’s first vertical lift. The ride offers spectacular panoramas across the park as it climbs, before plunging riders down the world’s steepest drop on a flume ride with an incredible 53-degree angle.

The ride then speeds through an additional airtime hill to reach the spectacular finish, which promises to refresh both riders and onlookers. The Catapult Falls launched flume ride promises a memorable experience suitable for adrenaline seekers and families.

A spokesperson for the firm comments: “Intamin is proud to have contributed to the success of SeaWorld San Antonio and would like to thank the entire team for the great cooperation.”

Last year, Intamin released details of its immersive ride experience, LuneXplorer. The ride opened at Cité de l’espace, France, on 14 November 2023 and is the second of its kind in Europe. This unique immersive ride takes guests on a simulated take-off and adventure to the Moon, and includes physical sensations.

In addition, Intamin recently won a Brass Ring Award at IAAPA Expo 2023 in Orlando. The company was awarded the accolade for the Dome Ride Theatre at SeaWorld Abu Dhabi, in the Major Ride/Attraction Class A: Product Cost of More Than US $3 Million category.
