Aqaba Development Corporation wants to employ a joint venture

The Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC) is seeking expressions of interest (EOI) for works on a new world-class science hub and aquarium in the Jordanian port city.

According to the EOI public advertisement, the project is a cornerstone of Jordan’s vision for sustainable tourism, and a significant step in Aqaba’s bid to become a leading global destination.

ADC wants to employ a joint venture consisting of an international contractor specialising in building public aquariums, and a local contractor classified by Jordan’s government tenders department in the fields of construction and renewable energy works.

The joint venture will subcontract businesses in acrylic, theming and digital works.

ADC requires each joint venture to be prequalified before the tender documents are released to the shortlisted bidders.

Aqaba aims to be a leading global destination

All interested contractors can request the EOI form via tenders@adc.jo. This must be filled out and signed and returned to the same email address. The deadline to submit the prequalification document is close of business on 30 June 2024.

In July 2021, Aqaba’s first world-class water park opened. Saraya Aqaba Waterpark features more than 25 rides, slides and experiences across more than 28,500 square metres.

Chris Van Der Merwe, former general manager at Saraya Aqaba Waterpark, said the park is “the first of its kind in Aqaba and the largest in the kingdom of Jordan”.

Inspired by Jordan’s iconic landmarks, highlights include Dead Sea Drop, Wadi Rum Race and Aqua Jerash.

Saraya Aqaba was developed by Eagle Hills and is operated by Miral Experiences, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi-based Miral.
