The theme park opened in 1988, originally as a museum for vintage planes, trains and automobiles. Founder Gary Norton was initially unsure about how much interest his creation would attract: “If nobody shows, ” he said, “then I’m just going to have a nice little park to play in with my friends.”
25 years later Silverwood Theme Park has welcomed around 8.5 million visitors and regularly attracts over 500, 000 visitors a year.
Silverwood opens to the public on May 5th, with a special ticket price of $19.88 per person to celebrate 25 years since the first season in 1988. The theme park will be open at weekends during May, with daily operation from May 26th.
