Six Flags and Atari have announced a licensing partnership to provide real world theme park content in the RollerCoaster Tycoon Touch mobile game.

The special content that Six Flags will share will include record-breaking roller coasters and attractions as well as other elements from its theme parks like restaurants, stores and landmarks.

RollerCoaster Tycoon Touch players will have the unique opportunity to design and operate their own theme parks via their mobile devices from June 2019.

New way to interact with Six Flags brand

Commenting on the partnership, Six Flags President of International Development David McKillips said, “We are thrilled to partner with Atari on this carefully curated and very special in-game content,” said. “Our strategy of extending the Six Flags brand—virtually in RollerCoaster Tycoon Touch, and with our branded theme park destinations worldwide, is very exciting.

“This platform is a great way to offer theme park and gaming fans the ability to interact with the world’s largest and most well-known regional theme park brand, taking the experience anywhere, anytime.”

Tony Chien, Vice President of Marketing, Atari, added, “When you think of amazing theme parks and incredible rides, Six Flags immediately comes to mind. Atari could not be more excited to collaborate with Six Flags to bring together the world’s best known regional theme park brand and RollerCoaster Tycoon, the world’s most popular theme park simulation series.”

Six Flags has been in the news recently with its search for a new CEO to replace Jim Reid-Anderson who plans to retire in 2020.

Meanwhile Merlin Entertainments have discussed their digital strategy to engage with visitors and create seamless guest journeys.
