“Fender benders with buses, traffic snarls at the Magic Kingdom parking entrance, and overall growth are fueling transportation projects throughout Walt Disney World, ” writes Sandra Pedicini in The Orlando Sentinel.
She outlines the way Reedy Creek, the Disney-controlled taxing district, is tackling the growth in traffic – and traffic incidents – and has already approved $350 million worth of projects to be completed by 2018. Measures include:
- A 2-mile Western Way extension
- A bridge taking hotel traffic over the Magic Kingdom’s toll plaza
- A bypass providing better access to Floridian Way.
Furthermore, a vote will take place next month to approve the issuance of $80 million in bonds for a third Disney Springs parking garage.
