The new strategic team-bonding game creates fun for all the family at entertainment centres

SPREE Interactive, a leading provider of active free-roam VR experiences, has announced the latest addition to its growing portfolio, Anteater Picnic Panic.

Formerly known as Holodeck VR, SPREE Interactive is a specialist in delivering turn-key multiplayer, free-roaming VR attractions to the Location-Based Entertainment (LBE) industry.

Designed for players aged six and over, gamers will have to work as a team to protect the virtual picnic basket from hungry insects. Ants are craving the anteaters’ tasty picnic and will try a number of methods to steal their food during the three-minute escapade.

The game has been developed with a brand new gameplay storyline and characters, immersing families in a child-friendly experience with team interaction. The game is a versatile option for operators, which can utilise the title in both the six-player and ten-player variants of the player SPREE Arena.

Bringing customers back

SPREE Interactive will also release new seasonal versions of its games throughout the year, encouraging return visits for VR fans, such as an Easter edition of the original Anteater game. Through a combination of features such as the in-game scoreboard and new content, the SPREE Arena is a solution FECs can utilise to help drive custom.

One attendant can run the attraction for ten players, creating a potential throughput of 200 players an hour. Depending on operating hours, this can deliver an estimated 2,500 plays per week for each client’s arena.

Head of content Sarah Stief says: “We have brought the Anteaters back in a fun new scenario, where players need to strategise in their Anteater avatar and work together to protect their delicious picnic from thieving insects. With seasonal content and additional features, the game is set in a rich environment for the whole family to engage in social, active, fun.”

The SPREE Arena was taken along to Las Vegas to reveal Anteaters’ Picnic Panic at this month’s Amusement Expo and will be showcased by SPREE Interactive at numerous events throughout the year such as the upcoming DEAL 2022 in Dubai, UAE. A full list of events can be found on the company’s website.

SPREE Interactive recently announced it has partnered with Eurogames, a bumper car manufacturer, to offer the VR Battery Powered Space Bumper Cars concept to customers.
