Currently under construction, the 20ft by 42ft enclosure features a modern, single-slope glass roof with two 11-foot-long bi-parting roof panels. These are designed to slide open from the structure’s centre, flooding the restaurant’s interior with light. The aluminium-framed roof is supported by three sets of bi-folding doors which will open directly onto a terrace.

Situated just a few blocks from the White House, the new MOXY Hotel comprises 13 storeys of stylish, modern guestrooms, topped by the glass enclosure.

Design reflects the spirit of the MOXY Hotels brand

“We are proud to be creating another unique project in one of America’s historic cities,” comments Mark Albertine, President of OpenAire. “OpenAire has created a modern lean-to enclosure design that reflects the spirit of the MOXY Hotel’s brand; giving guests a space that is attractive but boldly unique.”

OpenAire is working in collaboration with MOXY Hotels’ lead architect, Fillat + Architecture, to ensure its unique and dynamic restaurant enclosure fits the new hotel’s design aesthetic seamlessly.

The hotel is scheduled for completion in autumn 2018.

OpenAire has been leading the way in the design and manufacture of stunning, high-quality, retractable roof structures and skylights for 28 years. Headquartered in Oakville, Ontario, it provides a comprehensive service from concept design through to completion.
