Alcorn McBride, the leading manufacturer of audio, video and show control equipment for the theme park industry, has been named one of the Best Places to Work in 2016.

The list, published by the Orlando Business Journal, recognises companies that ‘go beyond the norm’ to create a meaningful, positive work environment for their employees.

The honour comes as the company marks its thirtieth year in the themed entertainment industry.

Loren Barrows, Alcorn McBride’s Director of Business Development, highlighted Steve Alcorn’s ‘unwavering commitment’ to the company’s culture: “Steve puts his team members first and encourages a fun family working environment that has a huge impact on our success.”

Nominees were sent surveys asking employees to evaluate a range of criteria such as team effectiveness, retention, trust, people practices and feeling valued.

All Alcorn McBride employees responded and were eager to praise the company: “I can’t imagine a cooler place to work.  The company treats its employees like family, and we work in one of the coolest industries on the planet… It’s definitely a rare and special place that I’m proud to be a part of.”

Employees are involved with a number of charities and initiatives including Give Kids the World Village, Hour of Code, a global movement encouraging computer science; SWE (Society of Women Engineers) and the TEA NextGen Initiative (The Themed Entertainment Association) are designed to help students and recent graduates find their way into the themed entertainment industry.

“Giving back to the community is something our employees and their spouses do all the time. We, as a company, support them in any way we can, ” adds Barrows. “It’s part of our culture.”
