Leading themed entertainment company, Scruffy Dog, has teamed up with Merlin Entertainments & Triotech to create the new Ghostbusters 5D dark ride at Germany’s Heide Park.

A new icon for the park, Ghostbusters 5D – ‘The Ultimate Ghost Hunt’, is a fully reactive, highly immersive experience.

Scruffy Dog provided conceptual, design and theming services for the ride. In the early stages, the team worked with Merlin Magic Making to fully understand and engage with the Ghostbusters IP. Blending a variety of wooden styles, vibrant paint finishes and weird and wonderful ‘invention-like’ theming, a vision for the Land was quickly established. This provides a compelling environment for the interactive dark ride experience.

Ghostbusters 5D – ‘The Ultimate Ghost Hunt’ has been designed to take the interactive dark ride fun factor to the next level.

Armed with proton blasters, guests board high speed Ecto-x Hybrid vehicles and search out ghosts that are aiming to take over Heide Park. The ultra-engaging ride provides plenty of secrets to uncover and surprises along the way. Every splat and blast can be felt as the proton blasters and vehicles respond to everything the ride throws at them.

“I am happy that, with Ghostbusters 5D, we are able to offer the third family adventure in a row and the first indoor attraction of Heide Park to our guests. The complex technology was a special challenge for the entire team. So the positive response is all the more welcome,” comments Sabrina de Carvalho, Divisional Director of Heide Park Resort.

Having enjoyed the ride, Ghostbuster fans can purchase a wide range of souvenirs to take home. Enthusiasts can even stay for a short break at one of four new Ghostbusters rooms at Heide Park’s Abenteuerhotel.
