Sunkid, a leading provider of attractions for the whole family, has introduced two new attractions to the Universe Science Park in Nordborg, Denmark, a theme park that educates visitors about science and technology in an engaging way. Interactive exhibits and rides combine knowledge with entertainment, making physical concepts accessible to all ages.
Now, Universe Science Park is home to two of the largest family rides from Sunkid: an 8-person Loopster and a Tower.
In autumn 2024, the park approached Sunkid seeking two family-friendly rides designed to deliver high experience value and align with their science-themed portfolio. The key requirement was quick implementation by early summer 2025.
Thanks to Sunkid’s extensive production capacity and years of experience at its Heege site in Bassenheim, Germany, the project was completed within the desired timeframe.
Bringing educational concepts to life – with thrills
The 8-cabin Loopster, featuring a striking yellow and orange design, is a “space spinner” with a capacity of up to 480 passengers per hour. Passengers control the ride’s direction —forward or backwards —and can trigger brief upside-down pauses by pressing buttons on the restraining device.
The park aims to bring rotation and centrifugal force to life with the Loopster: “We’ll turn you upside down – if you dare! […] It’s the closest you’ll get to being an astronaut—just without the rocket fuel and space suit!”
Meanwhile, the Sunkid interactive Tower impressed the customer with its compact design and minimal construction work needed for the foundation. The Family Ride was installed in just five working days, which included staff training and official approval.
The attraction, designed in simple white and blue colours, encourages riders to pull themselves up and take in the 360° view. When visitors release the rope, they undergo a short, gently braked free fall, an experience that comes close to weightlessness.
Or as the Universe Science Park describes its “Gravity Tower”: “For the whole family: dangling legs and wind in your hair! […] You control the speed when it’s time to descend again! An experience for everyone over 95 cm!”
Mikael Vestergaard, chief commercial officer, sales and marketing, says: “We’ve had a fantastic opening weekend for the new attractions, and the feedback so far has been overwhelmingly positive – especially from families. Both the Gravity Tower and Space Spinner have already become guest favorites.”
Last year, Sunkid shared details of its project to retrofit a vertical raft return conveyor at Aqualibi water park in Wavre, Belgium. This was installed to provide all visitors with a memorable and comfortable experience, eliminating the need to carry cumbersome slide rafts.
