Costumes and Mascots: Rainbow Productions’ Licensed Cartoon Characters across the UK

News

Rainbow Productions’ licensed cartoon characters make personal appearances at leisure attractions this summer…

It’s been a busy summer of personal appearances by licensed characters in the Rainbow Productions portfolio, as the company teams up with clients in the leisure sector to bring added family fun and entertainment to summer events programmes at these attractions.

Pleasure Beach Blackpool booked a series of ‘Meet and Greet’ character appearances by popular children’s characters this year, including Peppa Pig, Scooby-Doo, SpongeBob SquarePants and Fifi Forget-Me-Not.  August 22nd sees the return of Bob the Builder, closely followed by a guest appearance by Dora the Explorer on August 24th.  The final scheduled appearance at Pleasure Beach Blackpool this summer is Postman Pat® and Jess the Cat on August 28th.

Twinlakes Park family theme park in Leicestershire also invested in character appearances for the first time in 2009, which proved so successful in terms of encouraging increased visitor numbers on the day, that sister parks to Twinlakes – Wheelgate Park in Mansfield and Woodlands Park in Dartmouth, Devon – also arranged for popular characters such as Peppa Pig to visit their own sites.

One of the most popular tourist attractions in the south west of England is The Flambards Experience in Helston in Cornwall and – again for 2009 – guests on certain days at Flambards were able to enjoy meeting famous licensed characters such as Dora the Explorer, Aardman’s Shaun the Sheep as well as seeing and joining in with the Barney Sing-a-long Show.  August 25th will also see the UK Sportacus actor officially approved by LazyTown heading down to the attraction to meet fans.

Many other leisure parks have taken advantage of the popularity of licensed characters held exclusively by Rainbow Productions and offered in the UK for personal appearances.  Examples include Drusillas Park in Sussex, Puxton Park in Weston-super-Mare and Codona’s Amusement Park in Aberdeen.
