A massive exhibit at Northeast China’s newest exhibition centre, the Changchun City Planning Museum, is being powered by Christie® M Series and Roadie projectors.
Changchun is the capital of Jilin Province. The newly-opened museum features the country’s largest exhibition zones. It is also home to the most advanced scientific and audio-visual technologies to be found in a museum in China.
The innovative building is shaped like a turtle. It spreads over three floors, showcasing a plethora of photographs, diagrams, plans and animated urban models. Everything on display illustrates the history of Changchun’s development as a city.
A collaboration between Christie and its Chinese Partner Wincomm Technology uses state-of-the-art projection technology to illustrate the past, present and future of urban planning.
Highlights include a multimedia giant sand table with a curving ceiling and screen. This stretches over a total area of around 1,100 square metres. The multi-media exhibit employs projections that show the urban planning process throughout the city of Changchun.
Christie HD14K-M® projectors are mounted into the structure of the ceiling. The vast 36 x 11 metre screen is lit using Christie Roadie HD+35K 3DLP® projectors. The combination provides the viewer with a deeply immersive experience.
Christie is recognized as one of the most innovative visual technology companies in the world. The Christie M Series is a powerful yet highly efficient line-up of 3DLP® dual-mercury projectors. The Christie Roadie HD+35K is a large-venue projector that produces 35,000 centre lumens.
“The large-scale multimedia exhibit is a hemispherical three-dimensional space,” says Tony Chen, General Manager at Wincomm Technology, pointing out that the complex sand table is “unprecedented” in China. “We are proud to be able to deliver stunning visuals using Christie’s high performance and dependable M Series and Roadie Series projectors.”
“Changchun City Planning Museum is among China’s most modern and high-tech museums,” says Jason Pei, Deputy General Manager of Christie China. “We’re very pleased that the museum has selected our cutting edge projection solutions to be installed and commissioned by our valued partner Wincomm Technology to showcase the city’s impressive urban planning through bright and awe-inspiring projections on the large-scale exhibits.”
