Zamperla, a leading ride manufacturer, has installed its popular Family Coaster model at Peppa Pig Theme Park in Winter Haven, Florida, US, leading the lineup of rides available for families to enjoy.

Daddy Pig’s Roller Coaster features a pre-show style queue that meanders through Peppa Pig’s house, itself an attraction for young fans of the show. Guests then board the coaster vehicle, which is meticulously modelled as an elongated version of the family’s car with twenty-two seats.
With a maximum height of 4.4 meters (14.5 feet), a top speed of 26 kilometres per hour and accompanied height restriction of 90 cm, Daddy Pig’s Roller Coaster makes an ideal first coaster for junior thrillseekers.
Alberto Ferri, roller coaster division director for Zamperla says “We really enjoy projects like this. This is the largest pig we have designed for one of our coasters, but our team has experience with detailed theming and it was a unique challenge. Plus, we have enjoyed updating our classic Family Coaster so it remains state-of-the-art.”
A unique coaster
The Merlin Entertainments-operated park did not want a “copy and paste” children’s coaster that follows an oval layout, meaning the Zamperla roller coaster engineering team developed a new solution. Its Family Coaster was extended with a child-friendly launch at the midpoint of the circuit, creating a unique installation for the park.
Roller Coaster sales and marketing director for Zamperla, Adam Sandy adds “This coaster saw us go back to the drawing board in a lot of ways.
“We not only added the launch, but there were several additional technical improvements. Our Family Coaster system now features individual lap bars, magnetic brakes, and booster tires for the lift and launch. Most importantly, the chassis saw significant improvements that reduce the cost of ownership and time required for annual non-destructive testing.”
Fun for all
Peppa Pig Theme Park is designed to provide an accessible experience for an audience of varying ages and capabilities. As an integral part of the park, the Family Coaster features a transfer bench that can easily attach to the vehicle when required. Guests that utilise the wheelchair access facilities can slide on the bench to their seats with ease.
Ferri adds “Our roller coaster division is constantly working to ensure that the largest number of guests possible can enjoy our attractions.”
The Peppa Pig Theme Park is now open to guests. Another Zamperla installation can be found at the Florida venue in the form of Mr. Bull’s High Striker, a funfair-themed Jumpin’ Star installation.
A further standalone Peppa Pig Resort in Sichuan, China, is planned to open in 2024.
It was recently announced that Zamperla will be providing a version of its Nebulaz ride model to Liseberg, as part of the resort’s new Luna Park expansion project.
