The first phase of Liseberg’s €10m Luna Park, including the Turbo and Tempus rides, is opening on April 23, 2022.

Liseberg, an amusement park in Sweden, is developing a new themed area called Luna Park with three new attractions – the family-friendly Turbo and Tempus rides and the Luna roller coaster.

The first phase of Liseberg’s €10m Luna Park, including Turbo and Tempus, is opening on April 23, 2022. Luna, a Vekoma Family Boomerang coaster, is set to launch in 2023.

Tempus is a Zamperla Nebulaz ride and features four axes that rotate. Turbo, an interactive Technical Park Sidecar XL carousel, boasts motorcycle and sidecar ride vehicles.

“We are creating a completely new area, much like we did when we built the Rabbit Land in 2013,” said Andreas Andersen, CEO of Liseberg.

“This time we are building an area for the whole family with several new attractions. The area is a tribute to the history of amusement parks and Liseberg – and a celebration worthy of a 100-year anniversary.”

Luna will travel along 242 metres of track until reaching a drop at a dead-end spike. Luna will be the tallest and fastest coaster of its kind in the world, reaching speeds of up to 68 kilometres per hour and heights of 33.5 metres.

“Luna Park will be like its own little universe inside the amusement park, especially in the evening with all the lights,” said David Schofield, creative director at Liseberg. “A beautiful and immersive environment with lots of lighting, elegant architecture, and the air of innovation.”

Also set to launch as part of Liseberg’s 100th anniversary in 2023 is the Liseberg Grand Curiosa Hotel, which will be followed by the opening of Oceana Water World in 2024.

Construction started on Liseberg’s €110m water park in November 2020. Oceana will have 14 water attractions, including toddler pools, water rides, wave pool and lazy river.
