TEA SATE 2022

The industry gathers in Las Vegas to converse and share ideas next month

The Themed Entertainment Association (TEA), a non-profit representing compelling places and experiences worldwide, has announced a selection of speakers for this year’s Las Vegas conference.

Live Action Attractions’ Brett Jackson will be this year’s SATE master of ceremonies, providing a two-day interactive ‘whodunnit’ on the subject of human interaction.

During the main keynote presentation, Paul Steelman and Suzanne Steelman Taylor will discuss casinos, careers, and priorities when designing for gaming. Taylor will explore the career of the global entertainment veteran with four decades of hospitality and gaming experience, working with industry names including Sheldon AdelsonFrancis LuiLawrence HoStanley HoSteve Wynn, and Prince Albert of Monaco

Steelman will offer outstanding international perspectives on the ever-changing industry including North America, Macau and places in between.

Keeping pace

From Zero to Hero: IDEA in the Project Lifecycle will bring together seven industry viewpoints from the themed entertainment circle.

“Few things say Las Vegas razzle-dazzle and excitement like forty minutes talking about project lifespans,” says a TEA representative. “We’ve talked about IDEA at previous conferences, so [attendees] already know that the world is changing, and you’ve got to keep pace if not be one step ahead.

“Technological wizardry is great, but if you really want to be awesome and innovative, how about project structures that can save you hundreds, if not millions of dollars, bring in more revenue after opening, and keep you from getting ruthlessly dragged on social media?”

The session will also look at contracts and project schedules, with TEA exploring how to transform these from ‘much-maligned documents’ to shining jewels in suppliers’ arsenals, as well as how to ensure successful playtesting.

The TEA is promising a ‘wildly different’ panel for this year’s event including names such as Cynthia Sharpe and Corey Timpson.

The SATE is sponsored by BarcoFrankNDesignMedici XDTAIT and Thinkwell Group. Registration is now open for participants online.

TEA China recently held a virtual session led by The Bezark Company’s Adam Bezark entitled Dialogues for Innovation, exploring how small is the new big in the leisure sector.
