OWA Parks & Resort in Foley, Alabama has expanded its tropical-themed water park to offer an outdoor wave pool and surf simulator.
The $70 million expansion of Tropic Falls includes a tropical-style outdoor wave pool called Big Water Bay, located close to the recently opened indoor water park.
It also includes a surf simulator called Coastal Curl, found next to the wave pool. At the top of the wave pool is a performance stage area with a huge screen.
Additional features include a tropical-inspired F&B outlet called Breakers Bar & Grill, an expansive beach area, private cabana rentals, and restrooms with lockers.

Owned and operated by the Poarch Band of Creek Indians, OWA Parks & Resort opened The Park at OWA in 2017. The resort recently transformed its 14-acre theme park into a tropical paradise with an indoor water park.
The addition of Big Water Bay and Coastal Curl, as well as the indoor water park, makes Tropic Falls the largest aquatic attraction of its kind on the Gulf Coast.
“Tropic Falls is currently the only indoor water park in the United States with both a retractable roof and sidewall adjoining an outdoor water park,” said Kristin Hellmich, director of external communications for the Poarch Band of Creek Indians.
$70 million expansion of Tropic Falls
“The Tropic Falls expansion has been more than three years in the making and is evidence of our continued commitment to seeing our vision through at OWA,” added Cody Williamson, president and CEO of Creek Indian Enterprises Development Authority.
“Leading the development arm of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians, we focus on continually investing in projects, like OWA, which allow us to remain a strong economic partner for the state of Alabama.”
Elsewhere, Water Country in New Hampshire is celebrating its 40th season with some new features and two new waterslide experiences.
