Attractions.io enhances Knoebels mobile app

Native purchasing functionality has been added to the amusement resort’s app as part of a three-year collaboration

Attractions.io, a leading creator of mobile visitor apps, has revealed that it has expanded the mobile app at Knoebels Amusement Resort, the biggest free-admission amusement park in the US.

The major upgrade, which has added native purchasing functionality, was delivered as part of Attractions.io’s three-year partnership with the attraction. The park’s mobile app has become an integral part of the visitor experience and also offers real-time updates, navigation, and exclusive promotions.

Improved forecasting & processes

With this upgrade, visitors can now pre-purchase tickets, passes, and premium experiences. This enables the family-owned and operated theme park to better forecast attendance and simplify admission processes.

Jacob Thompson, head of customer success at Attractions.io, comments: “Integrating native purchasing into the Knoebels app offers guests a super slick check-out experience, making it easier for guests to buy tickets, passes, and premium experiences ahead of time and spend more time enjoying the park.”

Tiff Kalejita, digital marketing manager at Knoebels, says: “We’ve seen an uptake in pre-purchases for tickets via the app. It not only helps us forecast how many people are coming to the park, but when our guests get here, they can just scan their ticket, grab a band, and head in. The app has sped up their transaction times, given us a better idea of how many people are coming, and boosted our sales.”

The app’s push notifications enhance native shopping by promoting special events, BOGO deals, and food products.

Kalejita adds: “Having the ability to send push notifications to our guests is amazing. We promote our dining experiences and are already seeing an uptake in revenue. We’re seeing up to 20% of users engage with our promotional messages.”

Positive feedback

In addition to retail, the app supports Knoebel’s communication strategy by providing reliable updates on wait times and ride statuses. The crew gives real-time updates on ride delays, closures, and new openings, allowing visitors to arrange their day accordingly.

The park’s head of ride operations comments: “Our supervisory team now has a much better pulse on what’s going on at our rides and our wait times. We’re more efficient in what we do and are able to make informed choices in terms of staffing.”

The app also offers offline navigation, which enables users to determine the most efficient and fastest path to the locations they want to visit.

“They can look right at the app, put in the ride they want to go to, and it takes them there and gives them the best directions and the quickest way there,” adds Kalejita.

The Knoebels mobile app has received extremely good user feedback. 99% of app users report favourable experiences, highlighting the app’s usefulness and effectiveness in improving the park experience.

Mary Helwig, head of marketing at Knoebels, concludes: “To me, that’s a huge success story alone. It shows that our audience wanted the app, that they’re using it, and that the content we’re providing is valuable information for them.”

Attractions.io recently previewed its new Multi-Level Mapping functionality at the Saudi Entertainment & Amusement (SEA) Expo, which took place in Riyadh from 7 to 9 May.
