borabora studios, a Cologne and Barcelona-based creative technology studio, has announced Forest of Time, a large-scale, multi-user interactive experience, debuting at Happitat's official opening in Bangkok, Thailand, on 21 August 2026.
Happitat is envisioned as a new happiness-driven space that brings together architecture, nature, hospitality, and digital experiences to create meaningful, memorable shared moments.
Unlike traditional retail destinations, the project emphasises experience, participation, and emotional engagement as central to the visitor journey.

Happitat's Grand Stairs features Forest of Time, a large-scale digital display that evolves into a dynamic, interactive ecosystem. Instead of a passive content loop, it encourages multiple visitors to actively influence and modify the environment in real time.
Collective interaction
Visitors join Forest of Time via their smartphones by scanning a QR code, which generates a unique digital essence representing their presence in the forest. They collaborate to restore a lost ecosystem, awaken Ancient Guardians, and uncover endangered and extinct Southeast Asian wildlife.
Animals start as concealed fragments of light in the environment, becoming visible through collective interaction.
Each discovery reveals the animal in the Forest Codex. This shared digital archive blends storytelling with scientific details about the species, including its conservation or extinction status and its natural history.
Forest of Time transforms discovery into a shared journey. Visitors don't just receive facts; they work together to uncover each species and its story, fostering a deeper emotional bond with the environmental themes of the experience.
BoraBora Studios served as an end-to-end partner, integrating creative and technical consulting, experience design, content creation, and technical implementation.

The team worked on the creative concept and narrative universe, mapped out the visitor journey and multi-user interaction mechanics, and generated the real-time visual content along with the interactive technology that powers the experience.
Created with a combination of Unreal and Ventuz, the real-time system enables multiple visitors to participate at once. Each participant's actions influence the shared world, with the forest dynamically responding as audiences work together to identify species and rebuild the ecosystem.
This experience is tailored for a public setting, allowing audiences to easily participate using their personal devices without requiring specialised controllers or wearable technology.
borabora studios' Forest of Time exemplifies a broader strategy in creating digital experiences for public spaces and destinations. The studio collaborates with clients from the project's inception to reimagine architectural screens, AV systems, and digital infrastructure as engaging visitor experiences.
The studio combines creative and technical consulting with in-house content creation and real-time development to guide projects from initial experience strategy and concept through production and execution.
Forest of Time illustrates how large-scale digital infrastructure can serve as a platform for participation, storytelling, discovery, and collective experience. Additionally, it reinforces borabora's expanding portfolio in large-scale interactive destinations, cultural attractions, and experience-driven public spaces around the world.
"Creating experiences that make people smile"
Orada Kerdhong, president of Axtra Happitat Co., Ltd., says his team was thrilled to work with borabora studios:
"Having seen their remarkable work across Europe and the Middle East, we were impressed not only by their creativity and technical excellence, but also by their passion for creating experiences that inspire people to care for nature.
"That shared belief made us feel they were the right partner for Happitat from the very beginning. Throughout our collaboration, they have consistently demonstrated a deep understanding of our vision and an unwavering commitment to bringing it to life.
"Working together has only reinforced our confidence that we made the right decision, and we are proud to have them as one of the creative forces behind this extraordinary destination.”

Florian Wögerer, CEO of borabora studios, adds:
"Creating interactive and engaging experiences which make people smile is what's really our core at borabora studios. Creating something that is tied to nature and happiness is even better. It was great working together with the Happitat team to bring this one to life."
Earlier this year, borabora studios revealed Island Hoppers, the first dynamic game created for the LED floor at BMW Park in Munich, Germany. The indoor sports and event arena features the world’s first permanent installation of the ASB GlassFloor.
