Hourglass Escapes has worked with Fantasy Flight Games and Asmodee Entertainment on an escape room inspired by the Arkham Horror Files tabletop gaming franchise.

Arkham Horror Files Escape Room: Mystery at Innsmouth will be the first official Arkham Horror Files escape room in the US when it opens in summer 2020.

The attraction offers guests the chance to solve an unnatural mystery and escape the clutches of ‘Lovecraftian monsters’.

The escape room is licensed and approved by Asmodee Entertainment and Fantasy Flight Games, the publisher of Arkham Horror, KeyForge, and Legend of the Five Rings.

Hourglass Escapes creates challenging escape rooms featuring superior production values and immersive storylines.

The company is known for its officially licensed Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn Escape Room, which received more than 100 five-star reviews on Yelp and Tripadvisor.

“It was such an amazing experience developing and opening the Evil Dead 2 Escape Room,” said Hourglass Escapes founder Seth Wolfson.

“We feel so lucky to have a chance to create a new experience based on the iconic board and card games set in the Arkham Horror Universe published by Fantasy Flight Games.”

In the attraction’s story, players travel back to the coast of Innsmouth in 1927, where the owner of the Gilman Hotel has died in mysterious circumstances.

Players will get to download their characters and costume ideas, and have 70 minutes to solve the mystery or fall prey to sinister horrors.

Yuri Lowenthal, who plays Spider-Man in PS4 game Marvel’s Spider-Man, stars as the in-game narrator. Fire Opal Media is helping to design the game along with David Iezzi.

“This new game is going to blow both Arkham Horror and Lovecraftian fans away,” said Wolfson. “Based on The Shadow Over Innsmouth, this will be a story-driven escape room with the classic Arkham Horror Files game mechanics woven in.”

Ubisoft is resurrecting classic video game Prince of Persia as a virtual reality (VR) escape room. Prince of Persia: The Dagger of Time is launching in spring 2020.

The official Arkham Horror Files Escape Room: Mystery at Innsmouth opens this summer in Seattle, Washington.
