Disney has shared another look at Cotino, the first ‘Storyliving by Disney’ residential community in California’s Rancho Mirage.
Disney’s initial plans for the community include a series of parks and more than 300 homes, a third of which will be reserved for those aged 55 and over.
Cotino will have picturesque walking paths, landscaped parks and various home designs inspired by the greater Palm Springs area using creative framework developed by Walt Disney Imagineering.
“Alongside the developer and builders, we’re creating a special place where residents will have a distinctive lifestyle that can only be found in the Cotino community,” said Claire Bilby, senior vice president and general manager of Disney Signature Experiences emerging businesses.

In the community’s first phase, there will also be an area dedicated to adults aged 55 and over known as the Longtable Park residences.
The name is inspired by “the experiences that originally drew Walt [Disney] to the Coachella Valley”, Disney said in a blog post.
“When he visited the area, he often enjoyed desert activities in the morning and joined his neighbors for a group breakfast and good conversation around a friendly table,” Disney added.
Residents of Longtable Park will have exclusive access to a dedicated gathering place of the same name, featuring olive trees, shaded seating and barbecue grills.
Elsewhere, the Launching Place Ranch will be an equestrian-themed dog park for residents of all ages. It is “designed to celebrate Walt’s love for horses” with play areas for pets.

The development will also offer Disney-branded entertainment, programming and activities, as well as a beach area and recreational water activities.
In addition, the community will be home to a mixed-use district with shopping, dining and entertainment district and a beachfront hotel.
Pre-sales appointments to discuss details including floor plans, home designs and pricing are due to start later this year.
Walt Disney World previously announced an affordable housing project in Central Florida, which is expected to open in 2026.
