Framestore, the visual effects specialist, has announced it is starting the award season with nine nominations collectively from the Visual Effects Society (VES) and Annie Awards.

Nominees including Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, Top Gun: Maverick, and Slumberland represent the company’s illustrious history of producing performances by emotionally fascinating creatures, photorealistic effects, and world-building settings.

Avengers: Quantum Encounter and Jumanji: The Adventure both pay homage to Framestore‘s successful Immersive division, which worked on thrilling interactive experiences.

Investing in storytelling

“These nominations represent the hard work of teams that span geographies and disciplines while also operating during a time of notable change,” says Mel Sullivan, CEO of Framestore. “They also speak to the culture of our company, the pride we have in building collaborative teams that solve problems, supporting each other and our clients.

“We invest in our people and technology; we are committed to R&D and we take risks which, after decades of working alongside some of the world’s greatest storytellers, can be seen in the brilliant work entered and nominated here. There’s lots more to come.”

Award-winning creative studio Framestore combines artistic quality with cutting-edge technological innovation which enables it to produce high-level visual storytelling.

These nominations come after last week’s VFX “bake-off”, in which two creative teams from Framestore debated that Top Gun: Maverick and Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore should be considered for this year’s ‘Best Visual Effects’ Oscar, along with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, another Framestore project. Both features could be nominated for a BAFTA, for which nominations are expected to be announced on Thursday.

Some of Framestore’s most recent and upcoming projects include The Little Mermaid, Barbie, Mickey 17, His Dark Materials Season 3, Lockwood & Co, 65, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Peter Pan & Wendy, Loki Season 2, Wonka, Wheel Of Time Season 2, The Crown Season 5, Borderlands, Shazam!, Fury Of The Gods and Paddington In Peru.

Last month, guests enjoyed Framestore’s projection mapping at RHS Garden Wisley, which created animated facades on historic buildings at the UK attraction.
