Minecraft is the best-selling video game of all time

London is getting a new Minecraft immersive experience, set to open in the new Corner Corner venue at Canada Water on 4 April.

Coinciding with the UK release of A Minecraft Movie, Minecraft Experience: Villager Rescue is an interactive scavenger hunt developed by Experience MOD and Minecraft creator Mojang Studios.

Long-time Minecrafters and new players can take part in the action-packed experience, which includes seven Minecraft rooms.

Playing as heroes, guests must attempt to save a village under siege from a zombie attack, gathering essential ingredients to craft a lifesaving potion to cure the villagers before the time runs out.

Guests are armed only with a handheld orb, known as the Orb of Interaction, as they embark on an epic journey through breathtaking biomes and interact with iconic mobs from the video game.

They are guided by two unique characters, Tobin and Dayo, as they learn how to use the orb, described as a glowing and interactive handheld device.

“After a successful debut in Dallas, Texas this past autumn, we’re excited to bring our first-ever immersive touring Minecraft experience to its next stop in London,” said Kayleen Walters, head of franchise development at Mojang Studios.

“We are thrilled to offer players and fans new ways to engage with the Minecraft brand starting this April.”

She added: “Finding ways for our community to express their love for Minecraft both in-game and out is always top of mind for us, and we can’t wait for more of our global community to attend the Minecraft experience.”

Minecraft Experience: Villager Rescue

Minecraft is the best-selling video game of all time, with more than 300 million copies sold.

“Minecraft Experience is an adventure unlike anything we have ever created,” said Olivier Goulet, founder and CEO of Supply + Demand, an Experience MOD producing partner.

“The collaboration between our creative and producing team and the teams at Mojang and Microsoft has created an entirely new form of in-person experience at the crossroads of game design, experiential storytelling, and high-tech multimedia.”

Merlin Entertainments has also teamed up with Mojang Studios to create two new Minecraft-themed attractions in the UK and US.
