Monopoly Lifesized launches in time for Riyadh Season, an annual art and culture festival.

Hasbro’s Monopoly Lifesized board game experience has opened in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – the first international venue following the launch of Monopoly Lifesized in London in 2021.

“Monopoly is a timeless classic, and we’re thrilled to continue offering more meaningful ways for families and future generations to engage with the brand,” said Matt Proulx, VP of location-based entertainment at Hasbro.

The Path Entertainment Group, a London-based production company, teamed up with Saudi’s Al Hokair Group to open the immersive attraction in time for Riyadh Season, an annual art and culture festival.

Last year, Riyadh Season welcomed 15 million visitors. Las Vegas’ AREA15 has also opened its first licensed pop-up experience as part of the festival.

Monopoly Lifesized, located in the Boulevard World zone, features a life-sized board that teams of players can move around, taking part in challenges to acquire properties, earn money, pass go and go to jail.

“Monopoly Lifesized is a real-life, full-sized version of Monopoly offering the chance to hop around the board and build the property empire of your dreams,” said Mohamed Attia, Al Hokair Group’s entertainment general manager.

“It is built as a hybrid of escape rooms, board games, and team challenges – in other words, loads of fun.”

Hasbro attraction heading to US, Europe and Asia

Additional boards will debut in Riyadh in spring 2023, as well as the Monopoly-themed Top Hat Restaurant. In the future, Monopoly Lifesized will be launching in the US, Europe and Asia Pacific.

The Path Entertainment Group’s CEO, David Hutchinson, said the demand for immersive experiences “is growing globally, and we’re delighted to increase our global rollout with additional licensing agreements in the pipeline in other major markets”.

Al Hokair Group has also partnered with Hasbro to launch a unique family entertainment centre (FEC) concept called Playocity across the kingdom.
