Niagara Speedway multi-storey go-kart race track under construction

News
Niagara Speedway, Clifton Hill

Construction is now underway on the Niagara Speedway – a multi-storey, spiralling, Mario Kart-like race track at Clifton Hill.

The speedway will be North America’s largest elevated go-kart track and the first of its kind in Canada.

Construction is set to be completed in Spring 2018.

Drivers will steer up a spiral 40 feet into the air before heading back down onto a formula one style racing track.

Some have drawn comparisons between the attraction and the Nintendo Mario Kart game. There is no affiliation, but Clifton Hill added a #MarioKart hashtag to their promotional image on Instagram.

The BBC reports that the attraction design is based on a similar race track called the Heavy Metal High Rise in Missouri.

Clifton Hill is located one block away from Niagara Horseshoe Falls. It features an array of attractions including the Niagara Skywheel and Ripley’s Believe It or Not!.
