Guests can enjoy senior-inspired recreation

Taco Bell is opening an “early retirement community” pop-up experience in San Diego next month for the old at heart.

At ‘The Cantinas‘, open on 17 and 18 August, guests can “live like a retiree”, Taco Bell said in a press release. There will be “senior-inspired, sun-soaked daytime recreation, retail and dining” it added.

Highlights include low-impact sports like afternoon aerobics, pickleball, croquet and golf, and arts and crafts experiences such as painting classes and knitting circles. Afternoon naps are encouraged, and Taco Bell F&B will be on offer.

“There’s a common misconception that retirement unlocks the life you’ve been waiting for. And while that may be true for some, we don’t think you should have to wait until 55 to live the life you’re craving,” said Taylor Montgomery, US chief marketing officer at Taco Bell.

“The Cantinas early retirement community, just like our brand, represents a place where all generations can come together, regardless of age, to live their más however they want.”

Exclusive access to The Cantinas is reserved for Taco Bell Rewards members, who can either pay $150 for a weekend membership with overnight accommodation, or $50 for a day pass.

The Cantinas is for guests age 21 and over. It is located just outside of San Diego, around 30 minutes from San Diego International Airport.

Earlier this year, McDonald’s launched several experiences based on WcDonald’s, the fast food chain’s fictional depiction in anime and manga.

One element was an immersive dining experience in Los Angeles that put guests in the WcDonald’s universe via 360-degree projection mapping and tabletop projections.
