‘Key of Dreams’ is located in a 17th-century manor house

Immersive entertainment company Lemon Difficult is to open a new overnight experience inspired by Lovecraftian horror.

Lemon Difficult is behind two experiences. ‘Key of Dreams’ is the new attraction. This takes place on 4 May, and 24 and 26 October. ‘The Locksmith’s Dream’ is returning on 26 and 28 September.

Located in a 17th-century manor house, the Locksmith’s Dream and Key of Dreams both merge traditional theatre and escape room games with a boutique hotel experience.

Both immersive experiences are set within the Grade I-listed Treowen in Monmouthshire, Wales. Guests can explore the estate, and will have lunch upon arrival, a candlelit dinner, and breakfast.

Per a press release, guests will be guided by a cast of performers as they “seek out answers and bask in the strangeness of the manor”.

In the evening, they will enjoy a banquet-style dinner in the manor’s grand hall. The menus use seasonal and locally sourced Welsh ingredients.

It’s worth noting that these are luxury experiences, with tickets priced from £400 for those not staying the night in the manor. Tickets cost around £1,400 for guests who are staying overnight.

Key of Dreams draws inspiration from the mystery and horror of 19th and 20th-century H. P. Lovecraft literature, Lemon Difficult said.

During this experience, a “profoundly unnerving atmosphere pervades as clues and strange characters serve to unlock the secrets of the manor’s previous inhabitants”.

Ivan Caric, director of Lemon Difficult Studios, said: “It took us a long time to try to provide points of reference for what we do – it’s got some Secret Cinema-style theatre, some Punchdrunk-style escape rooms… but none of those are quite right.

“It’s something new that not only brings great food and drink and a wonderful location but also a crafted immersive experience that is finding fans from across the world.”
