Valo Motion’s ValoArena maintains 70% utilisation after 21 months at Round The Twist

ValoArena

Valo Motion, a pioneer in combining interactive technology with physical activities, delivered the UK’s first ValoArena to Round The Twist, North East England’s largest family entertainment centre, in May 2023.

Almost two years later, ValoArena maintains an impressive 70% utilisation rate under its gated admission model. It engages children, parents, and grandparents in active play, highlighting its effectiveness as a high-throughput and low-maintenance anchor attraction.

“Out of all the products out there, especially for venues like ours, ValoArena is the easiest attraction to manage!” says Steven White, director of Round The Twist. “Our guests feel like they’re getting extra value for money with ValoArena included in the ticket price.”

Something for everyone

Like other FEC operators, Steven and Kerry White, directors of Round The Twist, sought an attraction that could be adapted for an underused area of their venue, resonate with their target audience, and demand little upkeep.

The search resulted in ValoArena, a mixed-reality playground designed for up to six players, which functions without needing headsets, controllers, or additional staff.

In contrast to other interactive attractions that demand onboarding, ValoArena enables players to jump in and start playing instantly, making it ideally suited for venues with gated admission.

ValoArena’s offerings have multi-generational appeal. Older siblings, parents, and even grandparents are joining in, transforming it from a spectator activity into a shared experience.

“Most of our other attractions cater to kids under 12, so older siblings and parents often had fewer options. ValoArena has been the swaying factor for families who now feel there’s something for everyone,” says Kerry White.

After accumulating over 3,900 hours of use in 21 months, ValoArena has demonstrated its durability, reliability, and user-friendly operation. The facility has had minimal downtime, supported by Valo Motion’s round-the-clock remote assistance.

“Even without technical knowledge, ValoArena is easy to maintain. Valo Motion’s 24/7 support ensures everything stays up and running,” adds Steven White.

Valo Motion recently revealed how its games’ user-generated content (UGC) is achieving viral success, generating millions of views and engagements across social media. Notably, the ‘floor is lava’ inspired mixed-reality game Groundfall has garnered over 28 million views across Reddit and Instagram in 2025 alone. In 2024, it was viewed over 100 million times on TikTok.
