Legacy Entertainment PIK 2 Worlds First Floating City Retail Complex

Major entertainment concepts proposed for Indonesian district

Legacy Entertainment, a leading theme park and resort design company, has announced it will work on one of Asia’s most extensive development projects for the world’s largest island nation.

The firm, which is currently celebrating two decades of successful projects, has been announced as an entertainment consultant for Indonesia’s PIK 2 “The New Jakarta City”, during which it will oversee the design and creation of three signature, large-scale retail, dining, and entertainment complexes.

Legacy will also be involved in developing leisure facilities including the rides, performances, and attractions that will occupy the flagship destinations.

City of the future

Nearly the size of San Francisco, US, PIK 2 is a completely new city, under construction near Soekarno Hatta International Airport in Jakarta. Set across over 5,100 acres and with 4 kilometres of white sand beaches, this latest development aspires to be a model for urban planning in the 21st Century.

World-leading entertainment is the latest component to be announced for the expansive project, with other key infrastructure elements such as hotels, arenas, stadiums, hospitals, schools and residential areas already in advanced stages of design or construction.

Marcus King, Legacy Entertainment’s chief projects officer, says “PIK 2 truly exemplifies the ‘City of Tomorrow,’ so it is only appropriate that it would also be home to the entertainment of tomorrow, as well. All around the world, retail developers are trying to figure out what is next.

“We believe that our collaborations with the executives behind the PIK 2 project will establish a very compelling model for the future of malls and retail as entertainment.”

High demand

The announcement further secures Legacy’s position as a market leader in Indonesia. The company has seen continuous high demand from ambitious resort and property developers, starting with the Grand Indonesia mega mall and Studio Makassar in 2009. The Indonesian portfolio has since expanded to include its work on Trans Studio Cibubur and Trans Studio Bali, both in 2019.

Legacy executives comment that the style and visual aesthetics of the new PIK 2 project will encompass “the signature creative stamp the firm is globally known for”. Specific details of PIK 2’s aforementioned entertainment components will be confirmed by Legacy over the coming months.

Last year Legacy Entertainment celebrated its decade-long partnership with Lotte World, South Korea’s number one theme park.
