In Maryland, the company is creating its first smaller-scale Sphere, with plans for a 6,000-seat venue compared to the 18,600-seat Sphere in Las Vegas.

Smaller-scale Spheres will still feature an an exterior LED display called the Exosphere, and the new venue will include a 16K x 16K interior display plane – the world’s highest-resolution LED screen.

All of Sphere’s advanced technologies will be incorporated, including Sphere Immersive Sound, as well as haptic seating and 4D environmental effects.

Global expansion of Sphere

"Our focus has always been on creating a global network of Spheres across forward-looking cities,” said James Dolan, executive chairman and CEO, Sphere Entertainment.

"Sphere is a new experiential medium," he said, adding that a Sphere at National Harbor will "elevate and advance immersive experiences across the area".

The project will be financed with public and private funding, including approximately $200 million in state, local, and private incentives.
