digital signage showing live oscars red carpet stream powered by 7th sense

Leading visual solutions company, 7thSense Design, powered a live stream of this year’s iconic Oscars Red Carpet across Times Square, New York City.

The UK company’s Stack Signage content management system allowed passers-by to enjoy key moments from one of the world’s most talked-about fashion events in realtime.

At 22 stories tall, the Thomson Reuters sign consists of 11 uniquely-sized, high definition LED screens. Supported by state-of-the-art technology, it is capable of full-motion video, simulcast events, mobile interactivity, social media integration and much more.

Occupying a prime position in Times Square, the sign is highly visible to the hundreds of thousands of vehicles and pedestrians that pass it every day. In addition, it is adjacent to 1 Times Square, home of the famous New Year’s Eve Ball.

Oscars display – an unmissable mix of live feeds and social media updates

On the evening of the Oscars, the #OscarsRedCarpetLive stream was fed onto the display via a Periscope feed with a Twitter social wall that used Stack Signage to schedule the feed. The system also layered it with movie playback and a web page element. This created an unmissable mix of live/realtime feeds and social media updates/engagement.

7thSense’s Stack Signage has been designed primarily for the stringent needs of large-format digital signage. The system is also ideal for live event and paid display installations where timing, content delivery, management, reporting and alignment to commercial goals are critical.

Features include client reporting, categorisation of assets, and dynamic and pre-programmable scheduling. Used by Panasonic and Branded Cities in Times Square, content is fed to the displays in its native and uncompressed format for the most superior performance.

Highly flexible, the system allows users to do as much as or as little as they want. Once a client has created a database of advertising, corporate messages, or other assets they want to share, they can schedule these throughout the day/week as required.
