Broadcaster and naturalist Sir David Attenborough recently visited the UK’s Yorkshire Museum to unveil a new exhibition, “Yorkshire’s Jurassic World“. While there, he fed a VR (virtual reality) dinosaur.

The 23rd March opening saw the 91-year-old Blue Planet star try out the exhibition’s VR installation. This is powered by highly immersive content from Immotion Group.

Created at Immotion’s Manchester Studio, the educational VR content transports guests back to the Late Cretaceous Period. Once there, guests are able to feed a fully scaled Argentinosaurus. This was aĀ genus of titanosaur sauropod dinosaur first discovered by Guillermo Heredia in Argentina.

Martin Higginson, Executive Chairman of Immotion Group, said, ā€œWe are delighted to work with The Yorkshire Museum and put our immersive VR experience at the centre of this new and exciting Jurassic World exhibition.

Sir David is no stranger to state-of-the-art technology. He has recently been involved with a VR project at London’s Natural History Museum. Launching this spring, the Ā interactive experience allows visitors a peek behind the scenes at the museum. This comes via aĀ lifelike 3D hologram of the great broadcaster.

Attenborough said, ā€œSharing my passion for the natural world is something which I have done for many years. This has been through different technologies, from the days of black-and-white TV to colour, HD, 3D, 4K and now virtual reality.”
