Fulldome.pro, the projection dome expert, has shared its insights into negative pressure projection dome screens and has revealed how this technology offers an affordable solution for operators.
Since it was founded in 2010, Fulldome.pro has been dedicated to providing easy-to-use and cost-effective digital technology and dynamic programming to the planetarium sector. The firm has completed more than 500 projects around the world and is regarded as a global leader in the immersive dome industry.
Cost-effective technology
Fulldome.pro creates projection domes and immersive (negative pressure) screens for media-based attractions. Whilst the planetarium industry has traditionally used aluminium-framed screens, negative-pressure screens are becoming more popular as a high-quality, cost-effective alternative.
The firm explains: “It’s not an exaggeration to say that negative pressure screens have revolutionised the projection dome industry because they make projection domes inexpensive, fast to install, deliver great acoustics, easily replaceable, and long-lasting.”
In negative pressure domes, air-blowers are used to extract air from between the external structural envelope and the inner fabric envelope of the dome. This generates negative pressure (N-pressure), which gives the projection screen its ideal dome shape, at a significantly lower cost than traditional construction methods.
Yana Fedorova, head of business development global, Fulldome.pro, says: “One of the most rewarding aspects of my job is observing the surprise on customers’ faces when they realise that we can provide an exceptionally high-quality product at a fraction of the anticipated cost.”
Potential for temporary events
Fulldome.pro’s advanced negative-pressure fabric screen technology has transformed the installation of dome screens. This technology speeds up installation, even for large-scale domes – a task which which was previously time-prohibitive.Â
The installation of large projection domes for temporary events can now be completed within a mere matter of hours or days. This innovation enables quick and efficient setup and has transformed the creation of immersive experiences at temporary venues.
Laurent Minguely, founder, BCIS International School, comments: “The installation of Fulldome’s negative-pressure screen in our Cosmos theatre left me utterly amazed at the projection quality. The seamless and cohesive display far exceeded my expectations, showcasing the remarkable capabilities of the negative-pressure screen technology.”
