Listen Technologies to support tours at ISE 2023 with ListenTALK

ListenTALK

Listen Technologies, a provider of assistive listening, multi-language audio transmission and live-streaming audio solutions, has announced that ListenTALK has been selected to support Special Interest Group tours at this year’s ISE event in Barcelona. The company is an official ISE Technology Partner, and ListenTALK is its all-in-one solution for assistive listening, language interpretation, and tours.

The Special Interest Group tours are scheduled to take place on 2 February and will see around 160 ISE attendees participating in on-site tours throughout the day. Each group will pay a visit to around 13 booths across the event venue, the Fira Gran Via, with leaders and participants using ListenTALK to overcome the challenges distance, background noise, hearing loss, and language pose to clear communication.

“ListenTALK is ideal for supporting tours at a major international event like ISE and we are delighted participants in Special Interest Group tours at the exhibition will experience the solution’s exceptional sound clarity, intuitive design, and ease of use in a real-world application,” says Maile Keone, president and CEO of Listen Technologies.

Introducing ListenTALK

Users of ListenTALK wear a small, lightweight transceiver around their neck and link it to either their own headphones or headsets or those that the venue provides. Users can push and hold a transceiver button in order to speak, and clear audio is transmitted to other transceivers paired to their ListenTALK unit. Users can hear up to 100 metres away indoors and 200 metres away outside.

Transceivers can be conveniently grouped in a docking station or by employing near-field communication to tap units together (NFC). Each group’s leaders decide which of the three communication styles their group will use: listen only, respond, or discuss. Leaders can change between communication modes with ease.

As well as supporting guided tours, ListenTALK is perfect for transmitting language interpretation and makes simultaneous interpretation easier. It is as simple as setting up a different group with the individual who will be translating the message for tour participants or audience members. Up to 30 simultaneous groups can be formed, and multiple languages can be spoken simultaneously in Europe.

Making tour experiences better at ISE

In large and busy spaces, like at ISE, clear communication can be difficult, because of noise and distance. However, thanks to ListenTALK, tour guides don’t need to shout to make themselves heard, or worry about the audio dropping out when they move around. This solution also makes interpretation easier, meaning that language is not a barrier to taking part.

The company will provide 128 ListenTALK transceivers with 8 lightweight charging cases and various accessories, including headphones and microphone options for leaders, for use during Special Interest Group tours at ISE.

Operating time (battery life) and charging capacity are crucial factors to take into account for systems supporting several mobile tours, such as those at ISE. The following ListenTALK features guarantee that transceiver units are constantly prepared and will work throughout tours:

  • Long battery life – ListenTALK transceivers charge quickly (4 hours from empty to full charge). The operating life is 7 to 8 hours for leader units and 12 hours for participant units.
  • Dual functionality of transceivers – Every ListenTALK transceiver can send or receive audio. “Leader” transceivers are assigned by adding a red clip to the unit. When there is not enough time to charge leader units between tours, users can easily exchange the leader unit (remove the red clip) for another fully charged transceiver and designate that unit a “leader” by adding the red clip.
  • Easy charging between tours – A ListenTALK charging case contains a full tray of 16 transceivers. Transceivers are easily dropped into spaces in the tray between use and will charge when the case is plugged into a power source. Users can see the charge level of each unit by pressing a button on the top of the tray.

Other ListenTALK benefits include:

  • Flexibility – ListenTALK can be used for one-way or two-way communication and tour leaders can easily switch between modes on the fly during tours.
  • Security – ListenTALK operates on a low-interference DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) band and includes encryption for secure and stable communications.
  • Safety – ListenTALK transceivers can be sanitized between use with a disinfecting wipe. They also are compatible with standard earbuds and headsets (Listen Technologies will provide headsets for tour participants who need them).

ISE attendees can visit the Listen Technologies team during the show at booth number 3P750, where they will be able to find out more about ListenTALK, as well as the company’s other wireless listening solutions such as ListenIR and ListenEVERWHERE. During the event, Listen Technologies will also highlight some recent ListenTALK installations.

Last year, the firm also provided ListenTALK to support tours during InfoComm, North America’s largest exhibition and conference to focus on the pro-AV industry.
