Listen Technologies supports tours at InfoComm 2023 with ListenTALK

News

Listen Technologies, a provider of assistive listening, multi-language audio transmission and live-streaming audio solutions, was chosen by AVIXA for a second year running to provide its mobile group communication system for Show Floor tours and Integrated Experience tours at InfoComm 2023.

InfoComm is North America’s largest professional AV trade show, and organiser AVIXA opted to use ListenTALK for these tours because of its reliability, ease of use, and audio clarity.

Users of the two-way ListenTALK system wear small, lightweight transceivers (combination transmitters/receivers) around their necks on lanyards. Tour guides use a headset with a microphone that is connected to their transceiver to communicate. Participants on the tour can hear crystal-clear audio through earbuds or headphones attached to their transceivers.

For users of hearing aids and cochlear implants equipped with telecoils, neck loops are available. Speaking with tour guides and other group members is possible by pressing and holding the TALK button on the transceiver.

Removing barriers to group communication

During the event, tours took place both on the trade show floor and at local AV environments across the host city of Orlando, where delegates could see real-world AV applications for themselves.

“ListenTALK removes all barriers to mobile group communication,” said Marcella Walsh, content manager at AVIXA. “Regardless of the space or size of the group, tour participants and guides can hear clearly and communicate easily. We’re excited to use ListenTALK for the tours at InfoComm 2023 because we know the system will provide an exceptional audio experience for all tour participants.”

ListenTALK is a perfect choice for crowded or noisy places like the Orange County Convention Centre. The system works both indoors and outdoors and has room for up to 20 groups at once. Tour guides can speak normally knowing that everyone in the group will be able to hear them. By tapping units together via near-field communication (NFC), transceivers can be quickly combined for one- or two-way communication in a docking station or on the go. Each group’s leaders choose one of three communication styles for their group to use: they can either listen only, respond, or discuss.

Speaking before the show, Maile Keone, president and CEO of Listen Technologies, said: “AVIXA has planned several exciting Integrated Experience and Show Floor tours at InfoComm that showcase the power of AV and creativity of our industry. We’re delighted to once again provide the ListenTALK system for use during these popular tours so participants can hear clearly and engage with guides and one another. We have no doubt they’ll be impressed and inspired at each venue.”

Reliability, flexibility and security

Other reasons why ListenTALK is a popular choice include:

  • Reliability: The transceivers only take four hours to be fully charged from empty. The leader units last for seven to eight hours and the participant units can last for 12 hours between charges.
  • Flexibility: The solution can be used for one-way or two-way communication and leaders can easily switch between modes. The 3-in-1 system can also be used for assistive listening, tours, and interpretation.
  • Security: ListenTALK operates on a low-interference DECT (digital enhanced cordless telecommunications) band and includes encryption for secure and stable communications.
  • Safety: The transceivers can be sanitised between uses with a disinfecting wipe. They also are compatible with standard earbuds and headsets so listeners can use their own equipment if preferred.

Listen Technologies also launched ListenWIFI during the event, which is the next generation of its audio-over-Wi-Fi solution, Listen EVERYWHERE.
