New pre-show at FlyOver Vegas continues the company’s longstanding relationship with Pursuit’s cinematic ride brand

Moment Factory, the multimedia studio specialising in the conception and production of immersive environments, has once again worked with leading experience provider Pursuit, building on the success of previous pre-shows it has created for the company.

With many years of experience in the themed entertainment arena, Moment Factory’s award-winning teams are able to design and create pre-ride experiences that complement and set the tone for the main attraction. These are developed to elevate the main experience while contributing to a seamless user journey.

Having worked in various markets and cultural contexts, Moment Factory has developed a sensibility and expertise to create content that is tailor-made and in line with local codes & context. The audience is immersed as soon as they arrive with a boarding experience and a pre-show that sets the context and mood of the ride ahead.

Pre-shows enhance the visitor experience

For clients, such as Pursuit, adding a pre-show to a ride brings added value. Pre-ride experiences allow the operator to create a more immersive boarding experience, which in turn enhances and elevates the overall guest experience.

Las Vegas’ latest attraction, FlyOver Vegas, sends guests on an immersive flight experience, using the famous Las Vegas Strip as its virtual runway. It recreates vast scenes to soar over including the expansive landmarks of the wild west, such as the Grand Canyon’s plunging river valleys to the fascinating desert tumbleweeds of the Mojave.

To amplify the excitement pre-departure, Moment Factory worked closely with FlyOver creative director Rick Rothschild to create an adaptable pre-show boarding experience to pre-empt the following cinematic adventure of “The Real Wild Wild West”. As soon as visitors venture into the boarding area they discover carefully crafted vistas and ambient sound effects, creating a unique atmosphere influenced by the opening title sequences of classic western films.

Staff then usher guests onto raised platforms within a circular room for a specially-created six-minute panoramic pre-show. Set to an inspirational original score by multi-platinum composer Thomas Holkenborg, the booms and busts of the American West are projected across 360° wraparound walls.

Vegas tourists are taken all the way from nature’s evolution during the Cambrian Explosion to the ghost towns of the Gold Rush and the very latest in Silicon Valley startups.

With a scope spanning millions of years, the multimedia production company relied on extensive research to recreate an accurate story of the region’s many landscapes and communities, providing an insightful introduction to the flight experience.

The installation will be the latest in a series of FlyOver projects benefiting from Moment Factory’s expertise; the firm has created two others, with a fourth in the pipeline.

The company provided its visual and storytelling expertise to provide guests with an intimate experience for FlyOver Canada in Vancouver. Moment Factory created Uplift, a multimedia pre-show highlighting the Great White North’s landscapes and people. The unique stories of five Canadians are told through their passions, with the film revealing the subtle beauty of the everyday.

The pre-show acts as a perfect taster for the virtual flying experience that follows, with guests becoming engaged with the many stories of the land, generating inspiration and admiration for the one-of-a-kind Canadian landscape.

Moment Factory also created two pre-show immersive experiences for FlyOver Iceland in Reykjavik, taking guests on a journey into the Icelandic storytelling culture and building anticipation for the main attraction, a full-motion flight ride through beautiful Icelandic environments.

Another pre-show is currently in development for FlyOver Canada’s Toronto site, slated to open in early 2024.

Last year Moment Factory was invited by arts and entertainment firm Meow Wolf to transform Perplexiplex, a live performance venue, into a unique immersive experience.
