Saudi Arabia’s Qiddiya giga-project has unveiled the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium for sports, entertainment and culture.
Located in Qiddiya City at the top of a 200-metre-high Tuwaiq cliff, the multi-use venue will host some of the kingdom’s biggest sports, entertainment and cultural events.
The 45-000 seat destination, Qiddiya says, is designed to revolutionise the traditional stadium experience with its immersive design and unique technological features.
“Our ambition is for Qiddiya City to become a global destination for entertainment, sports and culture and this iconic new stadium will be at its very heart,” said Abdullah Al-Dawood, managing director of Qiddiya Investment Company.
“The futuristic venue aims to reinvent the traditional stadium concept and embody the true spirit of Qiddiya’s ‘power of play’ philosophy.
“It uses state-of-the-art technology and innovative, world-leading design to put the spectator at the centre of the experience”.
Designed by stadium specialist Populous, the destination will include a retractable roof, pitch and LED wall. These features will allow the space to transform into different event modes in just hours.
The LED wall will be utilised for live event broadcasts, HD films and laser shows. When it’s not in use, it will open to reveal views of Qiddiya City.

Before unveiling the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium, Qiddiya launched its gaming and esports district, also part of the Qiddiya City destination.
Located on the outskirts of Riyadh, Qiddiya City is under construction with contracts worth SAR 10 billion ($2.6bn) awarded to date.
