Great America Partners EA for New Mass Effect™ 3D Immersive Ride

News

California's Great America is partnering with interactive entertainment experts, Electronic Arts (EA), to create a brand new attraction featuring characters from EA’s Mass Effect™ videogame series.

The hugely successful sci-fi RPG (role-playing game) series developed by BioWare™ is being brought to life in Great America’s newly renovated Action Theatre. Riders will climb aboard motion-based seating, don 3D glasses and embark on an immersive adventure enhanced by high-tech sound and 4D effects.

"Partnering with a world-wide gaming leader like EA will enable us to build an incredible user experience for our guests, " commented California's Great America Vice President and General Manager Raul Rehnborg. "This combination of technology and creative videogame content is sure to usher in a new wave of entertainment innovation in amusement parks."

California’s Great America is a 100-acre theme park owned and operated by Cedar Fair Entertainment Company. The new attraction will propel guests through space to a distant planet, take on larger-than-life adversaries and ultimately help save the day. The ride is scheduled to open in 2016.

Patrick O'Brien, Vice President of Entertainment and Licensing, EA said he was thrilled to see one of the company's most iconic games transformed into a high-tech attraction: "Having a partner who shares our commitment to thrilling our fans is extremely important to us and we look forward to building an attraction that will appeal to the Mass Effect fan-base and introduce it to many more."
