Wildcat’s Revenge, one of 15 roller coasters at Hersheypark, will be the theme park’s first hybrid.

Hersheypark has added the top arch to the 140-foot lift hill of Wildcat’s Revenge, a new wood and steel hybrid coaster to open in summer 2023.

Wildcat’s Revenge, one of 15 coasters at Hersheypark, will be the venue’s first hybrid, and the first hybrid manufactured by Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC) in Pennsylvania.

The ride experience begins with guests sitting in one of three custom trains before climbing a 140-foot hill and plunging into an 82-degree drop.

Riders will enjoy maximum speeds of 62 miles per hour along 3,510 feet of red track on a black steel and wood structure.

The new coaster also boasts four inversions, including the world’s largest underflip. This starts with an upward climb, followed by a counterclockwise 270-degree roll and a dive down towards the side.

“Based on our guest feedback, we knew coaster fans would love a hybrid at Hersheypark – and we’re thrilled to work with RMC on a custom wood and steel coaster with a nod to our history,” said Vikki Hultquist, general manager of attractions at Hersheypark.

Originally built as a wooden roller coaster called Wildcat, Wildcat’s Revenge features a new steel track on the existing wooden framework.

Wildcat, Hersheypark’s first coaster, was purchased by the theme park‘s founder Milton S. Hershey in 1923. The park is also renovating the ride station to include nods to the 1923 station.

Hersheypark is a 121-acre theme park with more than 50 rides, a water park and a zoo. In 2020, the park opened the $150m Hershey’s Chocolatetown expansion. The 23-acre land houses Candymonium, the attraction’s tallest, fastest, and longest coaster.

Elsewhere, Hershey’s Chocolate World in Pennsylvania is opening a new experience for candy fans on 19 May called ‘Hershey’s Great Candy Expedition’.

Earlier this year, Hersheypark shared a full POV render for Wildcat’s Revenge.
