Construction is beginning on Kings Island Camp Cedar, a luxury outdoor resort, which will open in Spring 2021.

Located less than a mile from Kings Island Amusement Park in Ohio, Kings Island Camp Cedar will offer RV campsites as well as modern cottages.

The $27 million resort is spread over 50 acres of land. As a hybrid resort and camping destination, it will have 73 cottages and 164 RV spaces. There are plans to add a further 100 cottages.

A range of activities at the resort

There will be plenty of recreational activities for guests on-site. These include a family activity pool as well as an adult-only pool, ponds and walking trails. Both pools will offer a poolside service and have cabana facilities.

An outdoor cantina will offer casual dining, whilst inside The Grand Lodge there will be a signature indoor/outdoor restaurant and bar. There will also be shops and exercise facilities in The Grand Lodge.

Guests will also be able to meet Peanuts characters during Smores with Snoopy or character breakfasts.

Kings Island Camp Cedar will also include all necessary amenities, such as laundry facilities, fire pits, grills, picnic tables and bathhouses.

Resort managed by Cedar Fair

Kings Island Camp Cedar is owned by Small Brothers, LLC and Terra Firma Associates. Given its close proximity to Kings Island, the resort will be managed by Cedar Fair Entertainment Company.

Jon Small, Chairman and CEO of Small Brothers explained that “it’s natural for us to partner with Cedar Fair, the owners of Kings Island. As a top destination in the area, their ability to entertain and provide a place to create lasting memories is exactly the type of experience we want our visitors to have at Kings Island Camp Cedar.”

Guests staying at Kings Island Camp Cedar will have exclusive Kings Island resort perks, such as Stay and Play packages.

“We are excited to offer our guests a unique lodging experience and a contemporary outdoor retreat so close to Kings Island,” said Mike Koontz, Vice President and General Manager of Kings Island.

He continued, saying that “the addition of Kings Island Camp Cedar luxury resort will make a visit to our park even more memorable.”

Cleveland Construction is the general contractor for the site, with McHarris Architects working as the project architect. The Kleingers Group is the resort’s civil engineer.

Cedar Fair recently unveiled its long-term strategy following the disruption caused by COVID-19. This involves investing in new rides, events and attractions and enhancing its parks.
