Martin & Vleminckx Time Traveller coaster 10th anniversary

Martin & Vleminckx, a leader in the design, manufacture, fabrication, and installation of thrilling attractions, is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Time Traveller coaster at Hot Go Park in Fushun, China.

This wooden terrain coaster has captivated audiences through the years with its drops, twists, turns, and numerous airtimes that provide an exhilarating experience from beginning to end.

Sensitive installation approach

The Time Traveller’s position in a heavily wooded area meant that its construction methodology needed to be adapted to safeguard mature trees nearby. As a result, a long-reach tower crane was used to prevent harm to trees during the installation.

Furthermore, Martin & Vleminckx faced a unique problem while installing the terrain coaster, as part of it had to be built beneath an existing pathway. The assembly of this ride element required manual installation without a crane.

The coaster is set against a spectacular cliff backdrop and features a distinctive design that intertwines with the midway. The track is kept close to the ground to heighten the sense of speed and create an adrenaline-fueled experience. In order to achieve this, the course is divided between upper and lower sections based on the terrain’s height.

Having a ride that attracts crowds year after year is essential for any successful park, and the Time Traveller stands out for its distinctive design, harmonious integration with its woodland setting, and expert engineering.

Martin & Vleminckx recently shared details of its restoration project on the wooden roller coaster at Playland at the Pacific National Exhibition (PNE) in Canada. This was the most extensive repair project in the history of the 65-year-old ride, which was designed by the acclaimed engineer Carl Phare.

Last year, the firm revealed its new branding and product portfolio at IAAPA Expo 2023 in Orlando. Its new products included the Unicoaster and Unicoaster 2.0, as well as the Skyspire and Polercoaster experiences.
